The Esterelf Beastiary

Name: Grizzlelock
Description:
Not as smart as your average bear but only you can stop it from causing forest fires. Its fur is most commonly either black or a dark brown. Its hide is incredibly tough and each of its claws is much larger than a normal bear, extending over half a foot long and an inch wide each. Its mouth it full of dagger-like teeth and it has an extra eye on its forehead. The most notable features on this mutated ursa are its extra pair of arms sprouting from its shoulders. They’re by no means bear arms rather than bare arms. They look as though the bear tore off a man’s arms and glue them on its shoulder after skinning them as the arms have exposed muscles and tendons. When harmed enough, the Grizzlelock may instinctively stand on its hind legs, exposing its belly, which possesses an extra mouth full of molars.

Abilities:

• Cold Hands – Anything the bear’s extra arms touch slowly gets covered in ice.
  
• Fire Breath – The mouth on the Grizzlelock’s underbelly can launch balls of fire.

Name: Crockodile
Description:
It’s actually an alligator to be accurate, but it’s funnier to call it a Crockodile. The reptile’s scales have all turned into a rock-like substance, although it’s unclear what it’s actually made of. Its tail has stretched out, to five times its length. Rather than a point, the tail ends in a large shark-like fin. It’s able to lift itself up on its tail, which it favors over crawling on its stubby legs.

Abilities:

• Aqua Stream – A high-pressure blast of water is launched from the creature’s mouth. It has enough force to knock down a tree.

Name: Toadstool
Description:
A toad that has grown over 12 feet high; spotted mushrooms grows on its moss-covered back and its orb-like eyes glow red. It secretes a gel-like substance from its pores. If touched, it numbs the body and shuts down the nervous system, paralyzing anyone unfortunate enough to challenge this creature’s full-body defense for a solid 10 seconds. Its long tongue is not only fast but it moves freely and flexibly. The tongue’s texture is rubbery and is difficult to cut or pierce.

Abilities:

• Poisonous gas – Toxic fumes exhaust from the mushrooms on the creature’s back.  Breathing in even a little will dull your senses. Prolonged exposure can knock a person out completely.

Name: Echowings
Description:
A bat with four wings; the membranes in each wing are pale and translucent and you can see the thin bones and veins. They only come out at night and often accompanied by a large group.

Abilities:

• Echo Howl – the bat emits a loud, high-pitched sonic scream. Hearing one directly is already enough to rattle your brain between your ears. The howl disrupts the flow of anima, effectively canceling out spells before they are cast.
  
• Drain Bite – The creature’s bites drains a target’s blood.

Name: Briar Root
Description:
A tree with a thick vine covered in thorns winding around its trunk and branches. Ivory spikes protrude from its top and wooden arms growing from either sides of its trunk.  Two cracked holes high on its trunk have a small yellow light glowing inside. A long crack running vertically along its trunk may split open at will to reveal a sideways toothless mouth.

Abilities:

• Thorn Bind – Thorny vines sprout from its top and its spike-covered roots can sprout from the ground to ensnare as many targets as necessary. Physical strength cannot break these vines or roots so only cutting or dodging them will allow escape.
  
• Rotten Apples – The tree tosses its fruit, which explode into a gas that knocks out anyone that breathes it in.

Name: Tinder Wolf
Description:
A pitch-black wolf the size of a horse that stalk the forest and mountains. The beast possesses three mouths of sharp white fangs stacked above each other. It has six pairs of eyes that glow red on along its back burns a bright fire. Its bushy tail is fairly long and emblazed with flames.

Abilities:

• Split – The wolf splits apart to three normal-sized wolves, each one with only one set of eyes and one mouth and a normal length tail. The fire still burns on their backs and each possess one of the original wolf’s abilities besides “split”.
  
• Fires breathe – Breaths fire. Why did I need a description for this?
  
• Pyro Wheel – Curls its body and rolls rapidly like a high-speed wheel covered in flames. The force behind this is like getting ran over by a car.
  
• Windmill eyes – The creature’s eyes shoot a cyclone of wind with enough force to lift several men off the ground.

Name: Bad Wolf
Description:
An anthropomorphic wolf. Its arms are stretched so long, if it stood straight its fingertips would touch its knees. The bones of its finger tips have grown so long they break the skin, giving it long, sharp claws of bone an inch long each. These claws are so hard and sharp that they can cut metal and stone with ease. Its frame is bony and its fast on its feet along with having a long reach thanks to its stretched out arms.

Abilities:

• Mask – This creature is able to shape shift to look like anyone freely. It’s also capable of changing its voice and read nearby people’s memories to become a perfect duplicate.
  
• Unrelenting Beast Roar – A shout that carries enough force to topple stonewalls. It pushes back anyone in the way, launching them back ten meters.
  
• Purging Howl – A howl from this beast takes down defenses. It cancels out ongoing spells and negates casting of new ones.

Name: O’ Deer
Description:
A cute little doe with big, watery eyes and white spots on its back. It prances around on its thin legs.

Abilities:

• Peek-a-boo! – A grown-up buck skeleton and muscle structure grows from the tiny doe while the skin remains the same, tearing it in the process. The original skin still clutch to the frontal legs, head, and back. The rest has exposed muscles and bones. The stag is missing its organs and its glassy eyes glow red.

Name: Kargdan
Description: The Kargdan is a corrupted beast with features akin to a rhinoceros including its size, shape, and sharp horns. It's thick rough skin is protected with bony armor streaked with gold and black stripes with only it's under side left unguarded. A Kargdan rarely wanders in groups and will wander around aimlessly in the wilderness. While they are considerably hard to track down, one can tell a Kargdan is in the area because of footprints and broken down trees. It's horn is prized as an efficient Cartic medium and accessory item.

Abilities:

• Charge- The Kargdan will break into a run and charge its opponents in hopes to injure or kill them with their horn.
  
• Stomp- The Kargdan is capable of splitting the ground with its front feet and opening faults.
  
• Fire breath- If angered, the Kargdan will start spewing out bursts of bright white fire capable of melting rocks and metal.

Name: Frost Eater

Description:
A corrupted beast species found only in Eisleyn's ocean waters, Frost Eaters are ice fish-serpent hybrids that can grow as long as forty feet in length and seven feet in width. Its scales and jagged horns on its skin provide it a tough exterior, as hard as ice that has been frozen solid. Defeating Frost Eaters are often a challenge due to needing a lot of force to penetrate its skin. In addition to this, its exterior almost makes them close to transparent in the water.

Abilities:

• A Frost Eater's powerful jaws can cut through thick layers of ice, much more so human flesh.
  
• It can rapidly swim as well as leap great heights in the air.
  
• It can produce powerful gusts of air and frost from its mouth towards anyone it faces.
  
• Its powerful shrieks can pierce the ears, temporarily debilitating its opponents
