Underneath a set of white, hooded, scholar robes, she often wears leather armor. Both armor and robes are inscribed with a sequence of runes that glow with an ethereal light when she enters combat. She has a false Cartic Mark tattooed upon her left shoulder to fool Expiate members (though a well learned member could possibly see through the deception). A red sash is wrapped around her waist with a utility belt strapped over it to hold a variety of necessities.
Her most distinguishing feature is the missing ring finger on her left hand, which enables her to use her hidden blade more efficiently.
Personality:
When compared to her younger sibling, Sam is more taciturn and contemplative. Given her fighting style relies more on stealth and precision strikes, the Eldest Althaus is a most patient individual. It is often common for her to plan an ambush for days in advance and waiting even longer before springing it upon a target. Where Gwyn would use brash and open tactics, Sam would use cautious and hidden tactics to fight. While she is capable of fighting, she prefers the quick and 'clean' kill.
As the Eldest, she feels that she bares the most responsibility over Gwyn's action. More than a sister, she is a provider. More than a provider, she is a protector. She often tries to counter-balance Gwyn's personality as a result and advises caution in all her younger sibling's actions. Even so, Sam can't help but feel proud about Gwyn --- though she never says it aloud for fear of increasing her sibling's ego. In her mind, Gwyn is always the first priority --- even over herself.
After her own life though, Sam prioritizes the protection of unsealed Walpurgi and the destruction of those who have fallen to corruption. More often than not, she has worked with secret groups dedicated to hiding Walpurgi from Expiate as a Mercenary. As a Hunter, she also takes up bounties on Monsters and Moria to provide for her sibling.
Very few things annoy or irritate Sam, but one of her major pet-peeves is mentioning her height (or lack thereof). She has a height complex and will often pout or sulk when it comes up. Another is to harm or actively be harming her sibling. Though her response to that is more permanent.
History:
While Gwyn only remembers being an orphan, Sam remembers some facts about their parents. She chooses not to speak of them though and often changes the subject when asked. That is the past and it has little to no bearing on the present and future of the Althaus siblings. From the time she was able, Sam had worked to provide for Gwyn. Where Gwyn would read books, Sam would work the fields nearby. Where Gwyn would train for combat, Sam would hunt alone (and eventually with Gwyn) for meat and pelts.
Sam learned to be patient rather quickly. Taking care of her younger sibling was a full-time job on top of all the other work she did to provide for them. She learned basic healing techniques real quickly with some of Gwyn's shenanigans. Once Gwyn was old enough to survive alone, Sam registered herself as a Male Hunter by the name of Sam Althaus and began to take on missions to hunt Monsters. A year or so of this work led to her Moniker of "the Silver Fang" for her blade skills and usage of Wind Elemental Spells. It was during one of these missions that Sam lost her left ring finger, which had been shot off by an Archer committing banditry.
Upon Gwyn's request and urging, Sam now travels with her sibling on a heroic quest. Now she just has to keep Gwyn alive.

Cantus Magic: Runes [Beginner] - The usage of Runes to imbue power and cast spells, Cantus Runes are mostly used by Sam to execute spells that would otherwise require more Anima than she is capable of using. The effects are weaker than direct casting, but last a touch longer than an immediate cast. A sequence of Runes is needed for an effect to be generated in combination with Anima.
Runic Glossary:
(Reinforce) - Sam's most used Runic Sequence, the primary ability of the sequence is to increase an objects durability as long as Anima is run through the Runes. Sam places these sequences upon his armor in order to increase their protection without increasing weight.

- Moria Bane - A curved, Short sword that is normally sheathed on Sam's back with the hilt pointed down. It has a simple Runic Sequence to reinforce its durability while Anima is channeled through it. (Shown in Appearance Art)
- Sgian-dubh - A simple, single-edged dagger normally found in Sam's boot, the Blade is enchanted with Cantus Runes to display Gwyn's relative health. If any ill happens to Gwyn, the Blade will heat up noticeably and send a mental compulsion to find Gwyn.
- Hidden Blade - A spring-loaded blade hidden with-in Sam's left bracer, the Hidden Blade deploys when Sam's wrist moves his fist up and back. (Seen in Appearance Art)

Skills:
- Non-Magic Skill: Stealth [Expert] - As her main forte, Sam has pushed her stealth skills to the level of an expert. Maintaining visual on a target while keeping out of sight and out of mind has been key to not only hunting for food, but hunting for profit as well. Hiding isn't just the only thing to stealth. Moving with a light foot, masking one's scent, masking one's Anima, there are plenty of factors that are involved in keeping Sam hidden from her target or from hunters. She is not a Master (yet) though. Masking one's Anima is the hardest thing to accomplish and is something she is only able to partially accomplish.
- Non-Magic Skill: Free-Running [Expert] - Another skill Sam has improved out of necessity, Free-Running is the ability to safely and quickly run around, over, or by obstacles with only the bare minimum of slowdown or stoppage. In order to chase down prey or run away from Expiates, Sam trained her body to perform Free-Running to an expert level.
- Non-Magic Skill: Bladed Weaponry [Intermediate] - In order to hide her Cantus-using ways a lot better, Sam has trained in the usage of short swords, daggers, and throwing knives. She is rather novice with larger swords, such as long swords and bastard swords.
- Cantus Magic: Wind Element [Intermediate] - Sam's Primary Cantus Magic, The Silver Fang has been most known for manipulating the Air around 'him' to sheath 'his' blade in a vortex of wind in order to shatter mundane weapons and armor. However 'he' is also known for other feats of Wind Manipulation.
Wind Elemental Spells: - Vortex Slash - A technique that creates a vortex of wind around any blade Sam is currently wielding in order to sharping strikes. A single-use technique with low Anima drain.
- Blade Front - A dashing technique that creates drill-like vortex of wind in front of 'him' as he rushes forward while propelled by a powerful gust of wind from behind. Usually used as a quick, initial attack and causes moderate Anima drain.
