    FORUM RULES

Like any good forum, Wiegenlied has rules. Usually, we'll give you a warning if you step over the line the first time, but if you commit multiple offenses, it can lead to suspension, or even worse, banning. So that doesn't happen, read the rules below and stick to them.

    I. GENERAL ROLE-PLAYING AND FORUM COURTESY

    A. Role-playing will be the main activity of the site.

    B. Posting Out of Character (OOC) messages in a role-playing thread should be kept to a minimum. If done, please enclose in brackets and say they're Out of Character.

    C. Please use proper grammar and spelling as much as possible. Don't substitute things like the words you, to, and are for single letters/numbers. If you do, expect your booty to be booted by a shoe.

    D. Posts should be written in third-person narrative form. If you don't know what this is, please ask a mod about it.

    E. The forum follows a posting order for role-playing and that would be as to who went first, second, third, etc...must repeat the cycle in the same order.

    F. In role-playing threads, you are not allowed to double post or make more than one post consecutively. If this is done by accident, you may ask a mod or admin to have it deleted. There is an edit button so that you can change your posts if needed. You are also not allowed to bump threads. If you need to remind people or show people a thread, just link it to them in chat or PM.

    G. The depiction of sex is forbidden. This means role-playing in relation to the sexual act or similarly graphic content should be faded to black. You may role-play the moments leading up to it, but not the acts in themselves. Threads with such content should also be closed threads where all parties involved are aware and consent posts in relation to this.

    H. Rape and pedophilia may not be portrayed. Gore is allowed but within reason. If gore exists only for the sake of gore and does not contribute to the flow of the story or is simply for shock purposes, we may ask for such content to be removed or edited. Keep it reasonable.

    I. Show respect to everyone on the forum at all times. This rule extends the Chatroom.

    J. If your character dies in-character, he/she cannot be brought back under any circumstances. As of now, dead characters are to remain dead. This includes cloning (not like cloning can be done in our setting, now can it?).

    K. Please note that writing style, vocabulary, etc don't have any effect on the battle. So if someone writes like the Queen of England and the other like a regular person, then it does not affect the effectiveness of their attack. That said, your posts should be clear on how your character attacks, respond to the opponent's attacks, etc.

    M. Absolutely NO God Modding. There are four types of god mods:

    • Autohit: This is when you attack a member and decide the attack hits without giving them a chance to dodge.*
    • Power Play: This is when you dodge or counter every single attack thrown at you.
    • Metagaming: This is when you use knowledge learned out of character and give to your character who has no way of knowing the information.
    • Controlling other characters that are not your own; the exception to this is NPC’s you create.*

    II. CHARACTER CREATION

    A. Your character is not God, he/she is not immortal and he/she is not invincible. He/she is a mortal being.  He/she cannot dodge every attack and he/she cannot instantly kill people, this goes back to godmodding.

    B. In no way, shape or form are Mary Sues allowed on this site. Don't know what that is?

    C. When making the profile for a character make it as detailed as you can. A simple profile with only one to two sentences will not be approved until more content is added. If there are things that are relevant to your plot in the history that you'd rather be a surprise, place it in a spoiler box.

    G. Exported characters are not allowed. Though this is a fairy tale site, you can't make your character one straight out of a book. However, you may allude or represent them. This means, for example, that if you want to make a character based off of Red Riding Hood, we don't expect her history being that she went to her grandma's house and almost got eaten by a wolf. If you are going to make such a character, try and see if someone's already got it down. It's not an absolute rule, but it'd be kinda awkward to have two Snow Whites, or Goldilocks. Try to keep the allusions as subtle. Exporting of characters also means trying to use any known literal fictional character (e.g. a character on a show like Ash Ketchum from Pokemon) is not allowed. There is a reason the characters here are called original characters.

    H. Once your character(s) is/are approved you must include a link to their approved profile in your signature. This link is to be clearly marked with your character's name.

    I. Do not comment in approval threads that do not belong to you.

    J. You are allowed to have a maximum of six characters, but please try to stay active with all of them as much as possible.

    K.  If you wish to kill off a character to replace them, it must be done in a plot or event thread, with a legitimate reason for the death. You may not make a thread purely for killing a character. This rule applies to retiring a character as well.

    L. Please follow the character template provided in the Character Creations sub-forum.

    M. You can create non-playable characters significant to your stories or plots, but they must be placed in the NPC thread and follow its template. Unimportant NPC's however, such as a market-woman or strangers, can be written without need of approval or permission.

    III. COMBAT

    A. As stated above, no Godmodding.

    B.  In fights, if an opponent completely ignores an attack in his/her counter reply, then you are allowed one free auto-hit of your choosing.  If clarification is needed for an attack, it's up to the players to contact their opponent and clarify an attack. Do not make assumptions and exploit vagueness.  Not only do short five word responses take away from the experience, but its also extremely unfair if a player posts a detailed three paragraph attack, only to have their opponent respond with "I blocked it and shot back." If someone does this constantly, they will be warned, and the RP will continue. Repeated offenses can be considered a punishable act. That being said, the responses from both sides don't have to match up in length exactly. A two paragraph attack being countered by a one paragraph block is perfectly fine.

And those are the forum rules! Please make sure to read the stickies in other sub-forums, too! Oh, and please check out chat etiquette! Thank you for being a patient reader!
