History: The Dance of the Tulips is an annual festival celebrated throughout Esterelf. Scholars argue over the origins of the celebration. The earliest records show the celebration taking place as early as 130 A.C. The festival commemorates the Tale of Fleur Elise (Elise of the Flowers) and Alder Konig (The Alder King). Fleur Elise and Alder Konig are considered important figures in literature. The two are also worshipped by individuals longing for love or wishing prosperity in their marriage. People may read The Tale of Fleur Elise and Alder Konig here.

Customs: The Dance of the Tulips lasts for five days. It starts with the Day of Merry and ends with The King's Return or the Vernal Equinox. On the Day of Merry, girls will express their love to their object of affection with a gift of either cookies, candies, or chocolates. Meanwhile, The King's Return marks the day men express love through a token of flowers, jewelry, or trinkets. The celebration ends with the Spring Ceremony, where towns and villages select their designated Fleur Elise and Alder Konig to perform the ceremonial rites.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

     1. Do the Enkidu celebrate The Dance of Tulips?

    • Similar to other cultural practices, this depends solely on whether or not the Enkidu want to.

    2. What if a giver and recipient are of the same gender?

    • The Dance of Tulips does not discriminate between the genders of givers and recipients. However, women are expected to give their gifts on the Day of Merry, while men give their gifts on The King's Return. If partners are of the same gender, they're expected to exchange gifts on the same day.

    3. Are there differences in The Dance of Tulips celebrations across the five kingdoms?

    • Yes, though the general rules remain. Differences in celebration usually lie in the gifts given. In Saoirse, chocolates and gemstones are the most common gifts given. More rural regions of Aldmerrow and Eisleyn will practice the gift-giving of resin-preserved flowers or floral bracelets/headbands. Saads focus on the giving of elaborate fabrics and perfumes. Stahlmin primarily focused on gifts of baked goods, but this has changed since the industrial boom.
