Species and Races in the Land of Mä Empty Species and Races in the Land of Mä

The descendants of man branch out to many races and types, some probably not even known yet. Their unique attributes have allowed them to evolve and develop through centuries, only growing stronger as time went on. But despite growing so much, they still remain to be children in the eyes of the world around them. Wielding the strength of the gifts given to them, they continue to fight and grow. Scattered along the four winds, they only continue to grow stronger, but as long as they are separate, so long as their tongues remain scattered, the tower shall forever remain man's greatest failure.

    Races:

    Human
Versatile and adaptive, humans are always surprising the world with accomplishments and advancements, yet they are the most fragile among all races despite believing in the illusion of being the dominant race. With claws or fangs or wings, they can be considered virtually powerless, thus the use of tools and intelligence is necessary for their survival. While this is so, humans do have the gift of being able to use magic.  Humans can either utilize Cartic magic through study or Cantus inherently or by contract with an Incantus. Individuals who use Cantus are known as Walpurgis.

    Human Subraces:

    • Cartic Users- Through academic study, humans or sealed Walpurgis can learn cartic magic. Cartic magic is a technique of magic use by drawing anima from the Lei Lines. The Lei Lines are a mysterious system of anima that runs like rivers all across the world. Just like drawing water from a river, taking in anima from the Lei Lines is slow and progressive, but by using a bucket or scoop, in other words mediums, the ability to draw in anima can be enhanced. It is shown that the purer the material the medium is made of, the better its capabilities are, thus rare gemstones are seeked out as high commodities. Typically only cartic mages of the highest skill and class manage to possess more than one of these.

Cartic magic tends to be slow to cast and takes time through chants and runes drawing, but it leaves room to be malleable. By adding more words and commands, the spell can change in effect or be more focused. Due to the minimal flow of anima, spells are typically short to medium length. The crippling weakness to cartic mages is that they can easily run out of anima if they use too many spells in a short span. Anima recovers over time, but once it runs out, recovery is too slow for continued use of magic. Cartic mages have a mixed view by society. Typically they are considered well as scholars and academics since they overall benefit their kingdoms, but some may regard them lowly as weak for a dependence on magic.

    • Walpurgis-Another name for warlocks and witches who use Cantus magic. Cantus is a born trait and cannot be learned or taught, but a contract with an Incantus can allow anyone to use cantus and become a walpurgis. Cantus magic is fast and versatile. Not only can it be used at any range, but it's considered an extension of the walpurgis itself.Able to be freely manipulated, cantus is considered a very versatile magic, but known spells tend to stay to their respective effects and abilities without change. Walpurgis seem capable of gradually learning new spells and abilities through time and experience, but it takes a while compared to academic learning. While Cantus magic is powerful, a walpurgis's magic can be easily sealed by most learned cantus mages for a period of time.

Walpurgis are constantly hunted down and regarded as a hazardous danger by society, thus Walpurgis try to hide their identities as much as possible. Walpurgis may also choose to contract an Incantus to further their power. Sequentially, humans and cartic mages can contract an Incantus to become a walpurgis.

    Enkidu

A race of half-animal humanoids. Their appearance tend to vary though by average, an Enkidu's genetic makeup consists of 30-40% bestial. Hailing from a different country, the Enkidu have recently migrated to Estereif. Their culture seems to be varying oriental  styles. Enkidus posses enhanced natural senses and physical ability, making them perfect hunters and ideal warriors, but by some unknown reason, they and their offspring are completely incapable of using any form of magic. Even Incanti seem to refuse or rather are incapable of contracting with an Enkidu. If ever asked why, the typical answer is "Enkidu are born from the Earth and not under the sun".

All Enkidu also posses a Roar and by this they are considered the natural enemy of magic users. Roars are vocal abilities an Enkidu can perform. It disrupts the flow of anima and as a result either weakens or completely nulls the casting or power of spells. Stronger spells and casters can remain merely weaken by the roar. The stronger the spell itself, the more likely it is to merely be weaken by the power. (btw, if you bullshit this, there will be absolutely no mercy)

Not only are they powerful natural fighters, but their technological advancement is comparable to Stahlim, but while Stahlim advances on industrial expansion, the Enkidu concentrate on weaponry. As of now, no one but Enkidus understand the mechanics behind their weapon technology and it seems their technology is impossible to reverse engineer or modify. What's unique about their weaponry is that it is powered by a natural energy that only purebred Enkidu have. They naturally emit it and their weaponry draw from this energy, thus are otherwise unusable by anyone other than Enkidus. (Again, bullshiting will receive retribution and execution. Not always in that order.)

Finally, Enkidu possess the ability to change the ratio of their genetic makeup, specifically the beastial DNA. However, they cannot increase their humanoid genes. In other words, Enkidu can transform further, increasing their bestial resemblance as well as enhancing their physical attributes the more they increase their animal genes.  At 100%, Enkidu can completely transform into a beast, but as they increase their animal genes they seem to turn towards a berserk state, moving more instinctively and sacrificing skill.

    Other Species:

    Incantus

Also known as demons and daemons, Incanti have been recorded to have existed since the dawn of man, maybe even beyond. Some seem older than others but it's unknown if Incanti even know of age. Typically though, the more ancient an incantus, the more adept it is. The oldest Incanti have been known to be worshiped as gods or guardian deities. Nowadays these Incantus are rarely seen and they are extremely selective of those they choose to contract. Incantus seem nigh immortal but advancement in cartic magic has found a way to seal an incantus and bound them to an object. These objects have come to be weapons of powers, allowing their wielders to access a fraction of the sealed Incantus's power, though only by the permission of the Incantus itself. They are usually willing for the fun of it, but it depends on their personality.

Sealed Incantus items tend to be extremely rare and what few their are are either sealed away of guarded with the highest security. The rarest of all are  sealed high-class Incanti. The more powerful the Incantus, the higher the quality the object the Incantus is bound to is, to the point of being unbreakable.

Incantus all have the ability to shapeshift, a magic that is currently impossible by mages or walpurgis alike no matter how extensive the study. Never sticking to one form too long, the only way Incanti can even be distinguished individually is through their mantra, words of power that rests within each one.
