- Anima- Another term for one's soul and soul energy. This is what humans and Walpurgis use in order to cast magic such as Cantus and Carta. Anima energy depletes each time spells are cast, but regenerate over time.
- Atonement- The act of eradicating a Walpurgis' Cantus completely. This is also known as Purging or Expiation and is only performed by The Expiate.
- Cantus- (Cantic, adj. Cantii, plural) A type of magic used by Incantus and Walpurgis. It is considered an innate magic that resides in one's soul rather than one that needs to be attained from a magical source like Carta. Cantus is capable of manipulating physical properties as well as summoning elements among other effects. Cantus can also subconsciously radiate from an Incantus, therefore mutating things that surround it.
- Cantus Leakage- The term for the Cantus that radiates from an Incantus and subsequently affects things that come in contact with it.
- Carta- (Cartic, adj.) Another type of magic. Unlike Cantus, Carta is derived from Lëi energy and has to use Cartic marks and glyphs in order to conjure different effects. Carta magic requires Lëi energy to be stored inside a medium in order to be used.
- Cartic Mage- a person who practices and uses Carta.
- Chi- The living energy that resides in Enkidu.
- Chizu- The native language of those who reside in Sakigake.
- Contract- An agreement made between an Incantus and a human or Walpurgis wherein the Incantus lends his/her magic in exchange, swapping one's soul with his/her mantra and being required to follow certain terms and conditions. An Incantus may also require the contractor to perform a special task or series of tasks.
- Corrupted Beast- A creature that was affected by Cantus leakage and transformed into a stronger, albeit aggressive form of its previous self. Corrupted beasts oddly have a large aggression towards humans.
- Corruption- The alteration of an object or creature due to Cantus Leakage. Also refers to the disintegration of the Anima in Walpurgis who utilize Cantus excessively or under extreme mental stress.
- Enchantment- The act of imbuing magical energy into an item.
- Enkidu- A strange race that while possessing no magic, has animal-like traits as well as innate skill in technology and weaponry.
- Expiate, The- The Expiate is the main organization responsible throughout Esterelf for controlling Cantus magic, be it corrupted beasts, Incantii or Walpurgis.
- Familiar- A spirit that can be summoned upon by a magic user, most often a Walpurgis.
- Free Alchemy- Alchemy that uses Cantus rather than Carta. Oftentimes use blood in their casting.
- Glamour- A special kind of illusory Cantus magic to cause a quick or simple illusion.
- Gottling- An old term used to refer to a child with powerful and dangerous Cantus. Another term for them was the "Cursed".
- Greater Incantus-An Incantus of exceptional power. Usually refers to an Incantus worshiped in the ancient times.
- Great Stone- A large stone that acts as a main Lëi source.
- Haven- A refuge for Walpurgis hidden throughout cities, usually done through the use of Glamours or Illusion Magic and protective barriers.
- Incantus- (Incantii, plural) a magical being capable of manipulating the physical world through its Cantus. It's locally known as either a daemon or demon, depending on whether it is benevolent or malevolent.
- Lëi- a network of limitless magical energy that circulates throughout Esterelf and possibly outside it. It can be used to charge mediums in order to use Carta magic.
- Mantra- An Incantus' counterpart to Anima. This usually comes in the form of a phrase written in runes.
- Medium- An object or material that can be used in order to channel and store Lëi energy. This usually comes in the form of metals or minerals, but can be simpler things such as wood or paper.
- Moira- A Walpurgis who becomes corrupt due to exhaustion of his/her Anima. This can be caused by using Cantus to abusive measures as well as the breaking of the mental state of the Walpurgis.
- Monster- Generalized term for both Incantii and Corrupted Beasts, but mostly used as for the latter.
- Sealing- Usually refers to the act of sealing a Walpurgis' Cantus so that it cannot be used.
- Sending- A creature created out of Cartic marks for the purpose of serving the one who made it.
- Shadow Folk- Also known as Shifters or Shapeshifters, Shadow Folk are a rare breed of Enkidus that do not possess animal-like traits, but rather the ability to reshape their bodies to improve and adapt.
- Shout- The innate ability of the Enkidu race to shout and temporarily nullify magic or stun opponents.
- Walpurgis- Refers to the race as well as an individual possessing Cantus. Another term for them is Cantus user. They are also called witches if female and warlocks if male in locally.
