    Rowan Navarre Empty Rowan Navarre

Post by KitKet Wed Sep 26, 2018 10:03 am

    Name: Rowan Navarre

    Gender: Male

    Age: 17

    Race: Enkidu
    Citizenship: Aldmerrow
    Occupation: Mercenary

Appearance:  Much to his own annoyance, Rowan truly doesn’t possess any kind of intimidating figure. Due to health issues growing up, his growth was stunted a bit. Rather than having the “Warrior body” of those around him. He ended up with a smaller, more lithe body than he would’ve hoped for. As if now he is 5’4 and is still hoping for a growth spurt. His red hair is generally left long and untamed, but he’ll do his best to pull it into a ponytail for more formal occasions. Looking at his face, one wouldn’t guess that he grew up in a mercenary band. With smooth features and not a single scar to be seen, he looks more nobility than commoner. He’s learned to use such a feature to his advantage on more than one occasion.

His enkidu traits take on the form of a Fox. Poking out from his hair are two pointed ears. He has a bushy tail which ends just shy of touching the ground. Finally, his teeth are a tad bit sharper than a human’s, especially his canines.

Personality: Despite growing up in a rather boisterous environment, Rowan didn’t seem to take on the behavior around him. He had always been quiet, and it seemed the louder those grew around him, the more that silence became a habit. He has a hard time speaking up about anything, and more often than not, his companions would end up speaking for him.

Rowan has always lead a more hedonistic lifestyle, and his days as a mercenary only strengthened this. Often, he’d spend most of his money within days of receiving it and was forced to scrape by off the land/ mooch off the others in his group until they got another job. Despite his lack of self control in his personal life, he is an incredible strategist in battle and always knows more than he lets on.

Rowan has always been more observant than he seems and has used this to his advantage throughout his life. He is a fan of learning as much as he can about what catches his interest, though he doesn’t always do such through questions alone. When it comes to people, he can come off as cold, though that is only due to his softspoken nature. He is quite friendly and tends to remember people for years after meeting them, even if it was only a brief meeting.

History: Rowan, to this day, has only ever heard stories of his parents. He was the son of two well known mercenaries who served in the same warband and, as he found out later, was accidentally conceived the night of a brutal battle that had nearly killed them both. Unfortunately, sickness took his mother shortly after he was born. Shortly after that, his father was killed in an ambush while retreating from a supposed “easy win.”

He was raised by a family friend (also a mercenary) who had absolutely no idea how to raise a child. He was pushed quite hard to “take up the family business” and due to this fact, was sick more often than not when he was growing up. It was only due to the others in the warband that he even survived. Oddly enough, they treated him better than the “Family friend” ever did.

Despite the hardships he endured, Rowan learned quite a bit from his guardian. Fighting a stronger enemy, a wide mastery of weapons and the basics of surviving on one’s own.

Rowan’s first real battle was when he was at the age of eight. He was mostly tasked with the delivery of extra weapons and shields for the fighters, but there was a single moment where he rushed to the defense of an “uncle” of his. Rowan ended up stabbing a man from behind with a spear. To this day he remembers the look on the man’s face when he saw just who was holding the spear.

Years passed and Rowan found that he had made a name for himself on the battlefield, specifically among his enemies. Amid the chaos, his own silent nature seemed to serve him well. He’d seemingly disappear amid the chaos, only to reappear later with his blade piercing the back of the enemies officer. His mastery over weapons served him well when cornered and, although he was more known for his ability to strike important figures out of seemingly nowhere, he was almost unmatched in his skill with a blade.

The cycle of mercenary work began to bore him though. All he ever did was kill his own kind. The money was good, but he didn’t see any kind of change. With his own home divided as it was, he saw no one worth serving on a regular basis. Beyond that, there was a chance that one day, peace would descend. Perhaps the tribes would get sick of killing each other and sign peace treaties. What would he do then?

    Starve, that’s what.

It was that realization that made him decided to make a change. He’d find someone who needed his skillset. Someone with drive, passion and the skill to back it all up. He’d help them achieve their dream and maybe, just maybe he’d be able to live in some kind of luxury in the end.

So, with that longshot of a dream in his heart, he stepped on a ship and never looked back.

    Weapon:
Memento: Originally his mother’s spear, Rowan has used this weapon enough that it is more of an extension of his body at this point. It’s long and silver with an ornate design that matches a noble’s in regards to design.

    Skills:
Weapon Expert: Rowan has trained with a wide variety of weapons while growing up. It is to the extend where he can be deadly with pretty much anything he can get his hands on. The sheer range of weapons he’s learned though has made it hard to truly master any of them.

Master Spear Fighter: Rowan has owned Memento since before he could even walk. Despite everything else he’s learned, he’s always been fond of spears the most. He’s poured the most time and effort into completely mastering the use of the spear.

Stealth Intermediate: Rowan’s quiet nature has managed to serve him well even on the battlefield. He’s learned to use the surrounding chaos to fade into the background and strike at more vulnerable targets. It’s not always perfect though, and he can often find himself in tough spots, behind enemy lines.

Strengths/Weaknesses: Rowan is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. While he is physically weaker, his use of momentum and speed easily counters this weakness. Stripped of weapons, he isn’t afraid to fight dirty, but if it comes right down to tests of strength he will lose more often than not. Despite enjoying the thrill of battle, he tends not to lose himself in it. He is always observant and can make split second decisions that have saved his life on more than one occasion. Due to his quiet nature though, he doesn’t often share his plans with others. This can lead to both him and his allies getting into tough spots.

Due to his penchant for disappearing, he often disregards orders given to him by allies. His improvising on the battlefield makes it hard for a plan to stay coherent if they rely on him in any means. While he has experience with many kinds of weapons, heavier weapons can range from unwieldily to absolutely useless to him. Greatswords, warhammers, two handed maces and the like can end up harming him more than the enemy. He'll use them if he absolutely has to, but he will most likely leave himself with open with each swing.

Finally, due to his health issues when he was younger, his stamina is not what it should be. Prolonged conflict can tire him out quickly and pushing himself too hard can cause him to straight up collapse.
