It was funny how everything Claes had worked for had been taken away in one single sweep. From being doubted as a capable officer due to her age and inexperience, she had to claw to the top to gain the respect she eventually did after only a few years in the force. While she had been only a junior officer at the time, her superiors had trusted her enough with important tasks and heck, she had gotten several medals thanks to her accomplishments. All it took was one single messed up mission thanks to the new guy and Liseran. She should have known better. Every instinct in her body had told her not to go through with it, but Liseran just had to beg and pout and be unreasonable.
Now several weeks later, she was just getting out of probation and many of the tasks she had been doing in the meantime included paperwork and pencil pushing. Oh, and cleaning. She couldn't forget that. While no one dared jeer and tease her in person, she did hear them joking now and then. She could feel her grandfather turning in his grave. But! Now proved a time to actually redeem herself. Or at the very least, start back from scratch. She had been assigned to, well, the non-glamourous job of handing out fines on the streets and rotating around checkpoints where Walpurgis were checked for papers.
The only problem was McCrae was also being given the same job. Odd how they decided to lump them together again considering the chaos that happened with both unsupervised. Or perhaps it was because no one really wanted to deal with Claes and McCrae. Claes, for all the respect she had gained, was "too serious" for some. They could never joke around and they'd get reprimanded if they didn't follow the rules. As for McCrae, well he was too good-natured. In fact, Claes didn't understand why McCrae was felt to be a good fit. Probably his ability with tech and firearms, but he was such a softie!
Scowling, she geared up in her typical Expiate attire: a blue coat over a black-vested blouse and tights. Her cutlass rested at her side and her firearms were kept in their holsters. Tying back her copper hair in a bun, she looked around for McCrae, hoping he wasn't going to be late.
