Note: This is a rehaul of the thread from the old Zetaboards site found here

The village of Sauvey lied in the countryside of Saoirse with Ieness, the closest large city, being a day's travel from it. Unlike Erinfield, Sauvey was surrounded by acres of open meadows and was only peppered with a few woods around its borders. Houses laid far apart from one another with lots dedicated to farming and grazing sights for livestock. A dusty, winding dirty path wound around these while a small brook ran across it.

Guy had traveled to Ieness and other towns in order to put up the post, mostly because no one in Sauvey was capable of combat nor had the time to deal with the wolves. While Guy had a big family, most of his children had moved out in order to seek their fortunes in Valdell or the Capital, and his neighbors were too busy with their own lots. His wife tended to the house, his brother the crops, and he was in charge of the sheep. If he left to hunt down the monster, there was no way of knowing when he'd get back--or if he'd get back. Not that the monster felt too much of a threat to him. Sure it had managed to break down his fences and the stone wall surrounding his lot, but if it had been a serious threat it would have done much more than steal a couple of sheep now and then. Still, sheep were sheep and less sheep meant less wool to sell.

Guy personally just wanted the thing dealt with. He was already willing to spend a whole hundred denars for it and he would have to focus on making up for the loss by working even harder to pay the tax collectors by the end of the month.
