    Cassima Addington Empty Cassima Addington

Post by Sunnivale Sat Jul 07, 2018 5:24 am

    Name: Cassima Addington
    Gender: Female
    Age: 16

    Race: Cartic Mage
    Citizenship: Aldmerrow (Currently) Eisleyn (Formally)

Occupation: Cartic Student (Currently) Farmer (Formally)

Appearance: Cassima is an average sized girl who is kind of short for her age. Because of her upbringing in Eisleyn she is thin and doesn't seem to have that much fat in her body. She has long brunette hair which she always keeps tied up in a bun, the only time she shows off her hair is when she's washing herself or when she's about to fall asleep for the night. Speaking of sleep, Cassima doesn't sleep that much and because of that, she is seen with bags under her eyes and her hair would frizzled most of the time while she's awake. She doesn't want to straighten her hair out, because she knows it will become a mess again sometime later.

She has gotten a scar on her right cheek and she has a few freckles on her face. She wears glasses often which she keeps in her pockets when she's not using them, these glasses were made by herself however because she doesn't have proper lenses. The glasses are hard to use most of the time and cause difficulty to Cassima's vision when used.

    Height: 61.4
    Weight: 100.0 lb (45.8 kg)

Personality: For her age, Cassima is quite intelligent when it comes to cartic magic, having read books about it back in Eisleyn and having studied brewing before she went to live in Aldmerrow. If she meets anyone that wants to know more about carta, then Cassima can happily provide the person information. She loves cartic magic so much she gushes about it sometimes to the friends she has, that is if said friends know her long enough. In general, Cassima likes to keep to herself and is often seen with a book to her face or wandering around enjoying the environments alone.

Cassima likes to learn and has always dreamed of going to a school like the ones in Aldmerrow, but she has a habit of being very distracted from her work easily, which she's trying to undermine so she can focus and learn to be a better mage. She also wants to be taken seriously and so if she meets someone who doesn't treat her with respect, then Cassima will act rude to the person and she will shun or ignore them if they continue to not give her respect. Cassima is a hard working girl who would try her best to make sure her work gets noticed by people around her, however she sometimes has self doubts about herself and during the mornings, she would brood.

Cassima keeps her past to herself and refuses to tell anyone about it, especially her friends. If someone does try to pry Cassima into telling her past she will quickly yell and will try to change the topic to something she likes and she will often act in a rude and brash way for awhile until she calms down or reads a book. When not reading anything Cassima could be found trying to practice cartic magic away from people, if someone finds her then she will invite them to join her or she will often beg for help with learning a few things regarding cartic magic.

When things are not going her way, Cassima will become bored and annoyed very easily, she will often sigh heavily in annoyance when her plans and work are not used well in the situation. If someone's life is in danger, Cassima will leap into action and will make sure that person is ok. If the person in question is someone close to her then Cassima will act reckless and will act on her selfish needs to try and get that person to safety, once the situation is over with then she will calmly submit to a punishment, knowing full well her actions will have consequences.

Last but not least...Do not ever EVER call her lazy, she will fly into a rage and will threaten to beat you up if you do. When it comes to romance, Cassima isn't interested in it right now, as she is still upset over Fitz's death despite him being dead for awhile.

History: Cassima was born as the only child in the small but poor Addington family in Shoffhen, Eisleyn. The family which consisted of Cassima, her mother Faralda Cromwell, her husband Antwan and Cassima's grandfather (Antwan's father) Conrad, had struggles with trying to live in the region that had constant blizzards and bleak situations like trying to find food and not upsetting the Princess. Despite the stress they still had a high demeanour and knew that one day, things will go well for all four of them and they'll have a better life then they have now, however Conrad, unlike Cassima, Antwan and Faralda, was a miserable man. The cause of his misery was related to his wife's and Antwan's father, Liliana Hallewell's disappearance a long time ago. It was believed that Liliana vanished because of an unknown incident related to carta, because of this, Antwan grew to hate all sorts of magic and believe's that his can get by without the use of it.

Eventually, Conrad died, with the family by his side. He became sick with an unknown disease and eventually passed away in his sleep after a long time of being in terrible pain.

Despite Antwan's views on cartic magic, this didn't stop his daughter's curiosity of it, and eventually love for the source of magic when she started to learn more of it.

Cassima first began to learn more about carta when she began to take up farming responsibility's at the farm at age six. She took over her father's responsibility's which was to help her mother mend any growing corps while her father went out to help hunt for food and to find materials and seeds that can help his family. In her spare time Cassima would begin to read any books that she found on her family's farm that formally belonged to Liliana, who hid them away when she used to use them. Most of the books she would read would be related to cartic or be about it's history. She started to grow interested in Aldmerrow when she also began to read book's related to that region and she wishes to visit it one day. Eventually Antwan soon found out about Cassima's books, but allowed her to keep reading books about magic because he wanted his daughter to be happy, however he made her agree to not do any actual magic in there home.

Cassima didn't have that much friends in Shoffhen except for a boy around her age named Fitz Garside, who she became close friends with and eventually developed a crush on the boy. His parents were poor and were weak when it came to work, Fitz however, despite being born with a blind eye, was excellent when it came to mining and worked in a mine just outside of Shoffhen. When Cassima and Fitz hung out with each other they would have a great time, with Cassima always remembering those days she spent with Fitz as the best times of her life. She hoped to spend more time with Fitz when she grew older and maybe live with him when the time came to think about marriage.

However...It was simply not meant to be.

When Fitz's parents heard about how princess Eala would marry someone if they solved three riddles, they began to train Fitz and got him ready for him to try out the riddles. Cassima, knowing that if the boy solves the riddles then she will never see him again as he would have to marry the princess, kept her feelings hidden and wished the boy good luck on the day he had to leave for the tests, Fitz, who at this point grew to love Cassima just as much as she did promised to one day come back for her. Cassima smiled when he said that and promised that she would stay in Shoffhen to wait for him...

But...He didn't come back...And Cassima realised why when his parents came back from the trip. Fitz's mother tearfully told Cassima what happened to there son...Her only friend was beheaded when he failed Eala's riddles, this caused Cassima's deep hatred for Eala to fester from within her. It was around this time that Cassima had first began her brewing lessons. At first she had trouble learning how to brew, but after the loss of Fitz, she began to try her hardest on becoming a good brewer, as she knows it would be the start of her learning cartic magic.

Ever since she lost the person she loved, she had a new thought, which was to get revenge on Eala for executing him. Time passed and the thought of getting revenge on Eala grew fainter in Cassima's mind. She knew deep inside, that she wouldn't be able to get to Eala in her current state of affairs and she began to have doubts on becoming a cartic mage. She slowly accepted that the only good things that she could do is be a farmer and make potions with her average brewing skills.

And that was when her father began to get sick.

Cassima and Faralda realised that Antwan was beginning to display the same symptoms of the illness that Conrad had and soon he fell bedridden. Cassima grew depressed at the thought that her father was going to have a long and painful death and she couldn't do anything about it, that was when she began to think about Aldmerrow again and how people that wanted to take there carta training further go there to attend one of there academy's. She did hear that there was an academy in Eislelyn, but unfortunately she also learned that Eala got rid of it. She decided that if she wanted to find a way to save Antwan's life, then she has to learn more about carta and become a mage, even if it will take years before she can save him, becoming a mage would be her only chance to get Antwan back to good health and to fulfil her dream on becoming a mage.

That night, she told Faralda, who refused to allow Cassima to go on the dangerous journey and is worried that she'll be rejected when she arrives. After a series of arguments, Faralda finally gave in and decided that her daughter should take the journey and become a mage, knowing that it's her dream and that she's doing it to save Antwan. A week passed and as Cassima prepared for her trip, she was given a parting gift from her mother.

It was a dagger, it formally belonged to her father when he had to go on hunting trips. Cassima, that the dagger might not help her on her journey but she didn't want to be rude, accepted the gift and departed for Aldmerrow to begin her quest on becoming a cartic mage.

It took awhile, but Cassima has just recently arrived to Estermount. She has slight butterflies in her stomach about getting into the academy due to being sixteen, but she knows she must do it...

    For her parents.

    For Antwan.

    For Fitz.

Weapon: A small dagger that formally belonged to her father that he used while he went on hunts to get food for his family. Her mother had given it to Cassima before her journey to Aldmerrow as a means to defend herself against the beasts or any enemy's that stand on her path. Despite her mother's nice gesture, Cassima doesn't use it that much due to now having much knowledge on using a dagger, she still keeps it for emergency's and a means to remember her family while she's far away from them.

    Skills:

    • Brewing: Her most treasured skill. Upon learning how to brew, Cassima knew that she had potential on being a carta mage. She can create potions that could help with scabs or to get rid of scars, along with making remedy's to help with flu like symptoms. She learned these potions from books she found on her family's farm that used to belong to Liliana. She wishes to make a a new, original potion one day for her own mysterious advantage. (Expert)

    • Farming: Due to her upbringing, Cassima couldn't go on trips to gather material or food with her father, so she stayed around home doing farm work with her mother in his absence. Because she spent years working on a farm, Cassima knows how to grow food and create crops, she also has knowledge about seeds and farming in general. (Expert)

    • Father's Dagger: Cassima was given her father's dagger before her trip to Aldmerrow, but because she didn't know how to use a weapon like a dagger before, she has trouble using it in combat. (Beginner)

    • Self Defence: Cassima briefly learned about self defence during her journey to Aldmerrow by reading a book about combat, however she hasn't used it that much since she didn't encounter anything dangerous that much during her journey to Aldmerrow. (Beginner)

    • Lense Craftsmanship: A skill that Cassima has learned which involves creating glasses. Since she recently started using this skill, her glasses are badly made, one example can be her own glasses which don't work well when put to use in front of Cassima's eyes. If your looking for glasses, don't ask Cassima to help you make a pair, at least, not until she improves on her skill. (Novice)

    • Cartic Magic: Ever since her recent enrollment in the Cartic Academy in Aldmerrow, Cassima has begun to learn about Csrtic magic and marks. She currently knows one mark that she used to help in a fight in the Sky Garden, which is flame related. She also sort of knows how to bind, but she needs the help of a professional to preform it properly and needs more time to learn more about binding.

As Cassima has continued to learn marks at the Alderrow Academy, she has learned marks related to creating lightning, levitation and healing, such healing marks including ones that close up wounds or stop bleeding. She can also clear away blood so professionals can look at the wound in question more clearly.

She is currently trying to learn more at the Academy and will learn more marks as the year goes by. (Beginner)

Strengths/Weaknesses: Cassima doesn't really have that much strengths, but in terms on what she could use to defend herself, she has her father's dagger and some self defence moves that she learned in a book that she read during her journey to Aldmerrow. She thought the moves were cool, but she knew they wouldn't help her in regards to someone more experience in fighting.

For weaknesses, she's very weak, with the dagger being the only weapon that she has and the clothes she's wearing being the only thing that keeps her from getting hurt and even then she tends to lose the dagger very easily, making her an easy target with enemy's and beasts.
